Cosmetics Review
|
MAC cosmetics gets a lot of hype from our sistahs! But MAC watch out! Here comes some brand new flava in ya ear! This cosmetic line is blowin up the map. It's called MIKSU cosmetics.
Miksu's unique packaging is musically inspired as well. Giving birth to the CD eye wear quad (set of four eye shadows) ($22), and Turntables for blush and brow (three different shades) ($15).
|
A hip, urban line of cosmetics. Misku brings together color, music and hip-hop flava to the world of beauty with its sleek style and on the go appeal. This line has a something for every women. Traditional cosmetic lines display their palette of colors as either warm or cool shades. Not MIKSU. Their palettes are inspired by musical categories such as R&B, New Wave, Jazz, Classical, Hip-Hop and Heavy Metal.
What I found interesting is the Lip Six Color Dials which come in five combinations with 6 shades of lipstick in each. ($25) The zestful names of the lipstick ($10) and nail polish ($7) collection will rouse your memory of a favorite singer or words to a popular song. Names such as Pearl Jam, Foxy Brown, Jiggy and Material Girl, stand out and the shade Badu Blue, is inspired and endorsed by Neo soul singer Erkah Badu.

"Universal " is what founder and creator Susan Van Brackle calls Misku. I spoke with Susan via-telephone to talk about her cosmetic line.
EV: With your background in cosmetics, and working with lines such as Erno Lasizo, Interface Cosmetics and Black Opal. Why did you decide to create your own line?
Miksu: " I wanted to be independent," and was looking for the right time to pursue an entrepreneurial venture. My vision was to develop a brand of cosmetics that was universal, so all women could wear our products.
EV: With that in mind, you focused on providing a line of products for women of all colors?
Miksu: Yes. What I have learned is that are people are colorful and musical. So I incorporated that insight to my concept.
EV: It seems to be very effective. Your colors are vibrant and versatile. I don't see a reason to purchase different products from other lines. Your line has every color palette women would want.
Miksu: There are a variety of palettes, from R&B to Heavy Metal. There's a color for everyone.
EV: Your UNI-Gloss 2001 is a unique product. Explain its purpose?
Miksu: Although the gloss appears blue in it's package, it's actually translucent. It doesn't have a tacky feel to it. It's light to the touch and doesn't have the consistency of Vaseline.
EV: So tell me what is the purpose of Lip rescue kit?
Miksu: When creating the lip rescue kit, I thought about it as a consumer. Thinking, what would you want it to be? What are the most common things we a carry in our handbags?
EV: Currently your line has color only. Any plans for a skin care line or foundation?
Miksu: We do have a foundation line. It's called "Keep it real". It's a liquid to powder that goes on light and accommodates all the undertones in various shades from Baby Baby to Nubian.
EV : Where are your counters located?
Miksu: In New York, Mexico, and in Philadelphia at the Indivo salons.

What's the 411!

FYI!...... Did you know if you return six (empty) MAC products made of plastic, you'll recieve a free liptick right at the counter. No mail-in paperwork or 6-8 week wait. You'll recieve it right then! Why?....it's part of MAC's recycling program. So remember.........Save your plastic products!
